INSTRUCTION AND SUPPORT

The Palolo templekeeper directs the daily program, helping visitors learn the forms of Zen as practiced by the Honolulu Diamond Sangha and guiding their participation in scheduled activities. An HDS training leader offers an orientation to Zen practice almost every month and is available after regular Sunday programs to consult about basic practice matters and the melding of practice and personal life.

Michael Kieran was installed as the HDS teacher on April 2, 2006. Nelson Foster, our previous teacher, still visits annually.

Michael makes himself available to meet informally with visitors and residents, as well as providing formal instruction in Zen (including koan study) as individually appropriate.
